You may have heard them called “adventure runs,” “scavenger dashes” or “goose chases,”
but this fun run on Saturday, Oct. 24, is called the Mesa Adventure Challenge. The challenge starts at noon and travels across a 5- to 10-mile route. Gather
2 to 10 friends and set out on a fun adventure that is filled with clues to solve and physical challenges.
Participants can ask strangers for assistance, use smart phones and even call friends (who are hopefully having lunch with the town oracle). Some teams approach the challenge as a race and are in it to win, while others are there for the laughs and good times. Either way, you’ll walk away happy and wanting more!
Teams never know what’s waiting around the next street corner during the Mesa Adventure Challenge. Group obstacles, human pyramids, or even a ride on a Big Wheel might stand in the way of completing the various race check- points. Teams should be prepared to crack some Morse code, collect scavenger-hunt-style items or answer local trivia. The challenges can take from 2 to 4 hours, but all of the work pays off at the after-party, complete with an award ceremony.
The City of Mesa Transportation Department’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is hosting the event as a way to encourage people to get outside and get moving. Sierra Adventure Sports, a local race organizer with experience holding events throughout the United States, is the event organizer. For more information and to register,
