Every Friday at 2 p.m., the wrought-iron gates of Cliff Drive close to vehicular traffic and don’t reopen until 8 a.m. each Monday. That means two-and-a-half days of car-free fun!

“My kids love to bike up and down Cliff Drive, and I either jog alongside or ride my bike too,” shares one mother. “It’s one of my favorite places for us to play because it gives me peace of mind to know that there won’t be any cars zooming by.”

Established in 1900, Cliff Drive is the only Missouri scenic byway located in an urban area and one of only five officially designated State Scenic Byways in Missouri. Located in northeast KCMO, the 4.27-mile historic drive winds around beautiful limestone bluffs and forested slopes. Wildflowers and natural springs abound, as do awesome views of the downtown skyline.
