Experience your City: Seattle

Seattle Summer Bubbles Kids

Ditch the car, get outside, connect with your community!

If you are like many Seattleites, you spent the winter recovering from the stresses of last summer. This year take a break between all the beach trips and hiking adventures to explore the relaxed fun you can have right here in the city. Grab your walking shoes or bike and connect with your community. It might be daunting to imagine leaving the car behind, but we’ve got some great ideas for car-free fun this summer.

SUMMER PARKWAYS

Summer Parkways events connect neighborhoods through music, food, dancing, games and more. Meet your neighbors and connect with your community while enjoying the summer sun. Plus these events close down several miles of streets to cars and create a fun, calm, safe environment to walk, bike, scoot, skate, hop, skip and bounce your way around the neighborhood.

BICYCLE SUNDAYS

Every summer Seattle closes three miles of Lake Washington Boulevard to motor vehicles from Mt. Baker Beach to Seward Park. Come bike along the waterfront or take a walk in the park. There are always fun things happening along the route and you can even get a tune-up at Bike Works’ mobile bike repair.

Multiple Sundays, May-September, 10 am-6 pm

NEIGHBORHOOD GREENWAYS

If you want to take a ride in the sun but traffic worries you, consider using a neighborhood greenway. Seattle’s ever-growing network gives you a more comfortable option to get around. And they’re close to all your favorite parks, restaurants and more!
