One of our favorite activities besides biking around town is participating in amazing cycling events. Pedal the Plains is one such event that you should be signing up for now as you still have time to train for a successful and fun ride. In case you’re not familiar with Pedal the Plains it is an amazing opportunity to see the Eastern Plains of Colorado-a region not often sought out by tourists or even by state residents.
And that’s a shame.
The Eastern Plains of Colorado is a stunning stretch of endless blue skies and small towns dotting the landscape. Agriculture still plays a prominent role in this part of the state and people have a continued reverence and love of the land and tradition. Riders will have the opportunity to explore the three host cities of: Holyoke, Sterling, and Julesburg. Riders will also learn more about what makes this part of Colorado “tick.”
The ride takes place from September 18th-September 20th. There are several ride options including the following:
- 3 Day Tour (172 miles)
- The Century Ride from Holyoke to Sterling on Saturday, September 19, 2015
- Family Fun Run Ride on Saturday, September 19, 2015
If you’ve ever considered participating in a bicycle ride and want to experience the thrill of completing a 100 mile ride with a group of new friends and people that you know this is a wonderful ride to introduce you to that feeling. The hope is that after you’ve had an amazing experience riding across the plains that you will share your experience with others and hopefully visit again.
