The Bike KC plan is a transportation network of on-street bicycle facilities. Adopted by ordinance, the 600-mile bicycle facilities network is located on both existing and future city streets. The City is currently completing the first phase, which includes 180 miles of signed bicycle routes. This phase also included replacing water inlets, storm drain grates and utility covers that were hazards for cyclists.
The City is about to start work to update Bike KC, which will create a set of design standards and an implementation plan. These standards will be compliant with AASHTO and MUTCD design standards.
