Along with running his three bike shops, Brandon will be busy
training for another season of cyclocross racing. In 2014, he was the National Champion in the Masters 40-44 age group.
Brandon Dwight
Co-Founder, Boulder Cycle Sport – 3 locations
Mountain Biker / Road Biker / Cyclocross Racer / Bike Commuter
Brandon has always been involved in the bike world. From riding BMX bikes as a kid, to mountain bike racing at CU Boulder, to managing a mountain bike team, to co-owning the Boulder Cycle Sport shops, biking is a part of his DNA.
This year, Boulder Cycle Sport celebrates its 10th anniversary. “We’ve always wanted to do things that made the shop more of a community hub rather than just a bike shop,” shares Brandon, hence Boulder Cycle Sport’s involvement in events, fundraisers, charities, junior cycling teams and clinics.
New this year is a scholarship program to send women to bike mechanic school. “As you know, women run the world, so I want to do my part in getting more women involved in the bike industry,” he says.
This fall, Boulder Cycle Sport’s Ambassador Team will once again offer its free Wednesday night cyclocross clinics. “I enjoy giving back and teaching beginners how to do their first race,” adds Brandon. “And I enjoy competing and watching the sport grow. It’s all part of my job.”

When’s he’s not running his business, Joe is out mountain biking and is a guide for the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA).
Joe Richardson
Owner, GEICO Boulder Office
Mountain Biker / Bike Commuter
As owner of Boulder’s GEICO insurance office, it’s Joe’s job to sell car insurance. “Face it, you just have to drive sometimes,” he says. “I love being a GEICO agent and wouldn’t be in this business if I wasn’t with GEICO… but my personal passion is biking.”
Prior to opening the local GEICO office in 2005, Joe’s job was actually in biking and skiing. He founded and co-owned the two Cutting Edge Sports bike and ski stores for 12 years in Boulder and Louisville. A longtime avid mountain biker and bike commuter—his office is conveniently located just off the Elmer’s Two Mile bike path—Joe is also a newly resurrected Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA) member and ride guide.
In support of BMA, Joe’s office is offering a great promotion: if you contact them for an insurance quote, they will donate $20 to BMA. (See below for details.) “I’m happy to support a group that is all about making Boulder a better place to ride,” says Joe, “and also to help people get a good rate on their insurance so they have more money to spend on biking!”
