In every state with the possible exception of Hawaii, there always seems to be a region that is often left totally unexplored by tourists or even by the same state’s residents. The Eastern Plains of Colorado holds that distinction even though it is a lovely part of Colorado. Fortunately, the Pedal The Plains ride was launched as both a fun 3 day cycling event and an opportunity to get to know our Eastern Plains neighbors.
If you’re not familiar with the Pedal the Plains ride it is going into it’s fourth year and continues to grow in popularity. This ride was created as a way to introduce people to the Eastern plains of Colorado. Get a chance to experience the warmth and friendliness of the people who call: Sterling, Holyoke, and Julesburg (the host cities) home.
Riders will also sample foods grown in the region, enjoy small town life, and get a chance to socialize with one another before, during, and after each day’s ride.
Riders will have several race options ranging from the following:
- 3 Day Ride
- The Century Ride (100 miles)
- The Family Fun Ride-Which is a shorter ride to accommodate those who would like to ride with friends and family on a shorter course.
The Pedal the Plains website also shares tips on the following:
- Safety related issues
- A Rider’s Almanac-that will be sent to all riders after they have registered
There is still time to register and get ready for the ride. If you already live in Colorado or plan on visiting think about participating in the Pedal the Plains ride!
