BUDD The Best State in the Nation to ride... Governor Hickenlooper is about make Colorado the best state in the nation to ride a bike. His Colorado Pedals Project combines public funding with private investment to increase active transportation across the state and elevate bicycling as a transformative vehicle for health, wellness and economic development. “Biking can be such a positive force, and I think being the best biking state is going to fuel economic growth and tour- ism. It’s going to lead us toward a cleaner environment, and it’s going to help us be the healthiest state in America,” Hick- enlooper said at Interbike, the largest annual bike trade event in North America. Roadmap to America’s #1 Bike Friendly State The Colorado Pedals Project will be operated by Bicycle Colorado, Colorado’s bike advocacy organization, in collab- oration with the Governor’s office and state “bike czar” Ken Gart. To manage the project, Bicycle Colorado has brought in Rachel Hultin to coordinate with communities across the state and Piep van Heuven to design and lead campaigns in Denver. The Colorado Pedals Project wants to impact the built environment, funding levels, awareness, health & safety, and participation levels.
