BikeLife Tucson 27 Businesses that Support Biking Watershed Management Group WMG was recently awarded gold-level Bicycle Friendly Business status by the League of American Bicyclists. The Leagues bicycle friendly business program recognizes businesses that encourage biking among their employees and customers. WMG is one of only two businesses in the state of Arizona to receive the prestigious gold designation. So what makes WMG gold level They have an in-house bike tune-up service a loaner bike on site for those days when staff members have to drive but want to ride to a meet- ing or lunch and an outdoor shower for employees who bike to work on even the hottest of Tucsons summer days. WMG even provides financial support to employees who use alternative modes. Full-time staff receive up to 400 annually to help pay for bicycle equipment and repairs and part-time staff receive up to 200. In addition staff members who want to get started biking can apply for a one-time ben- efit of 100 to help them purchase a bike or commuting gear. Learn more about WMG at watershedmg.org. Tucson Electric Power TEP supports pedal power and encourages active living among its employees by offering great bike-friendly facilities. Employees who bike commute have special access to a secure bike-parking room. Spacious air-conditioned cam- era-monitored and accessible only to employees who ride this room does a lot to make biking to work appealing and convenient for TEP employees. I love it I use it all the time says Justin Orkney program manager in the Renewables Department. Arriving to work sweaty from a morning ride presents a barrier to many people who work in a professional setting. Thats why TEP employees who bike to work also receive special access to a permanent full-length locker in another room upstairs in addition to showers and day-use lockers available to all employees.
