A silver-level Bicycle Friendly City (designated by the League of American Bicyclists), Tempe is host to more than 175 miles of bikeways. The city is also home to the gold-level bike-friendly Arizona State University. Close to five percent of residents regularly bike to work. The annual Tour de Tempe bike event attracts several thousand people each year.
